From the Secretary’s Desk – February 2018
The month of February has some very special events associated with it; like Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day and let’s not forget Presidents Day. Is the winter going to continue for a few more weeks and do we escape that snow on Valentine’s Day that we had just a few years ago? The message around Valentine’s Day is one of caring, love for your spouse or that special someone. One might also mention Brotherly Love, one of the principal tenants of our order.
In our opening and closing prayers there are these quotes— “Grant that the sublime principals of Masonry may subdue every discordant passion within us” and “let us practice out of the lodge those great moral duties which are inculcated in it.” So as we explore the mysteries of the fraternity and the underlying meaning of the ritual we will occasionally have conflicts within our ranks. Everyone needs to be heard and opinions expressed but just sometimes the heart must take over and reconciliations made. All of us have an obligation to be on the square and work on conflict resolution for the benefit of the lodge.
As we move forward this year in our planning and in preparation for our 150th Celebration let us not forget that what we do and accomplish will be done as a team of dedicated masons working for the benefit of our members. Experience Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth each and every day and our lodge will flourish.
