From the West – June 2023
Greetings from the West!
This is going to be a very busy month for the Lodge. In addition to a busy Agenda for the Stated meeting the Master and Wardens will be attending the Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Oregon in Bend Oregon. This Annual Communication will include the recurring election of Grand Lodge Officers and announcement of Appointed Officers. There are several issues to be discussed and possibly adopted to update and improve established procedures of the Grand Lodge and the various affiliated bodies of Freemasonry in Oregon. This two-day activity is concluded with the Installation of the newly elected and appointed officers and a private dinner with visiting dignitaries from many other Grand Lodges and Masonic bodies joining in.
In June of 1717, four Masonic Lodges in the Boston area met and formed the first Grand Lodge of Freemasons in North America. Shortly after, other Masonic Lodges became independent of their European origins. Freemasonry quickly expanded as the United States found itself the center of the New World. One of the strengths of our Fraternity is that it continues to discuss and consider better ways to manage and develop our activities. More on the changes will be discussed at the June Stated Meeting.
