From the East – June 2022 – Portland, Oregon

Greetings from the East:

First, I would like to apologize for the tardiness of this month’s newsletter. I wanted to delay it so I could report on Grand lodge to you and give you a few updates on some other things.

Grand Lodge was held in Salem this year on June 2nd & 3rd. There were over 200 Master Masons there, representing 96 Lodges. It was so nice to see everybody again and catch up with old friends.

There were 3 pieces of Legislation that we voted on. We passed a change to the code where it is no longer necessary to vote any time Grand Lodge is not going to be held in Portland. We also passed a change in the code where mileage will be sent to the lodge in the form of a check after the close of Grand Lodge instead of having to wait in line to be paid in cash at the end. This makes it safer as there is no longer a need to safeguard a large amount of cash during Grand Lodge.

We did not pass a change to the code where District Deputies would be allowed to wear collars as the Grand Lodge officers do.

Unfortunately, the resolution that would have changed the OMN publication from the current version printed 10 months a year to the newer version printed only 6 months a year, was not submitted properly and will have to wait till next year to be voted on.

All in all, it was a great Grand Lodge, and I was very happy to attend.

Back closer to home, your lodge officers are working on a few new ideas that I hope to announce soon. These new ideas will not only help membership, but also set the tone for future officers regarding charity work.

Please note that for the months of June, July, August and September, Lodge will open @ 7:00 pm instead of 7:30 pm.
