2022 Report of the Building Board

Dear Brothers and Sisters of Washington Masonic Center

First, I would like to welcome you to the first update which will be to inform you of the condition of the building and hopefully what to expect in the future.

  • As many of you know new alarm codes will be in place as of March 1st. As of that date, the old codes will no longer work. Now please do not confuse the alarm code with the door code. The door codes are not changing.
  • In March new security cameras will be installed.
  • Many of you have noticed that the front doors (not the ones on 52nd Ave.) are in bad shape, soon those doors will be replaced.
  • Up to now the building has been either too hot or too cold, not the comfortable atmosphere for an enjoyable meeting. The thermostats have been programmed. We are investigating wireless thermostats in the future.
  • The heating, ventilation, and air conditioning have been serviced to provide optimal heating and cooling.
  • Recently a Public Hearing was held to discuss and approve the mural that is being planned for the south side of the building. The hearing went very well and we are now awaiting the issue of the permit.
  • For your safety, the annual inspection of the fire extinguishers and fire suppressant system has been completed.
  • Last, but far from least, is that we need your help to identify any issues concerning the maintenance, and safety of the building that we all call home.

Thank you for helping us to keep you safe and comfortable now and in the future.

Larry Harmon, PM
Washington Masonic Center Building Board President
