Necrology – Lowell Eugene Amundson, Sr.

It’s not too often these days with the virus lurking about, that we get to celebrate the

passing of a mason that is 99 years old. This was the case on April 30th when masons, family and friends celebrated the life of Honorary Past Grand Master Lowell Eugene Amundson, Sr.

Lowell was active in many organizations including Sunnyside Lodge #163, York Rite Bodies, the Shrine, Sons of Norway, DeMolay LOH and was our Grand Marshal at the Grand Lodge of Oregon for many years.
He was a Portland Police officer for 25 years; had 9 grandchildren & 26 great- grandchildren. A masonic journey in giving, caring, and putting his life in harm’s way as he patrolled the streets of Portland.

The landscape has dramatically changed through the years, but one thing that has never changed are the principals that this wonderful fraternity has taught us. People may forget your name, but they will never forget the way you made them feel. So, I ask all of you, as you lead that road with bumps and curves, to always bring a smile to those you meet and travel your masonic journey with purpose and dignity.

Sincerely & fraternally,
Don Stapleton, Secretary
