From the South – May 2020

While this pandemic has wreaked havoc with a lot of people’s lives, I am amazed at how companies, big or small, have adjusted and adapted to the situation.

It is also amazing to me how technology has stepped up during this crisis and made things a little better. For example, the ability for video conference to the general public. Before this I was not aware of Zoom. I knew about video conferencing but that was a corporate type thing. Only big companies did that. Now, anyone can do it. As a matter of fact, I am thinking that during my year as Master, we do the officer meetings by Zoom. That way we can stay home and not have to go out in bad weather.

Food Delivery is another area that is growing due to the virus. Grub Hub and Door Dash are companies that suddenly are in the forefront. It will be interesting to see what happens after we get the ok to go back to restaurants. I wonder if they will keep the delivery service or stop it so people will have to go out to eat. Everyone, please stay safe and healthy. This too shall pass.
