From the East – October 2018
Greetings, Brethren
The clock is moving forward! We are entering the fourth quarter and the busiest time of the year!
On October 10th, we will start it off with our annual Past Masters Recognition dinner and meeting. We are hoping for a good turnout that evening! In addition to honoring our Past Masters, we will be voting again for the Hiram award. We initially had a vote for it at the September Stated, which resulted in a tie. We will give it another shot! The two Brothers who created this tie have been seriously dedicated to Washington Lodge and they both deserve this prestigious award. But alas, we must only pick one! So please come and help us out! Dinner is at 6:30 PM and Lodge will open at 7:30 PM.
For those of you who were unable to make it to our September dinner, we honored our great high school scholarship recipient and her supportive family. Also, one of Franklin High School’s counselors was there to give a brief report on ways we have helped to support the student drama and music programs at the school.
The Grand Lodge program to gain more members for the Craft is doing quite well! We have had a number of inquiries which I’m sure will lead to some petitions.
Our EA should be ready for the Fellowcraft degree by the end of this month, if not sooner. The Lodge officers have been practicing for this and our efforts should make for an excellent presentation! We will send out a “special” email notice announcing the date for the degree and it would be grand if you can pry yourself away from CNN or Fox for the evening! We could use your support.
If you haven’t seen it, Netflix has a good program on Freemasonry (English) which has some differences, but it is well done. It may help to dispel some of the myths about Freemasonry.
Getting out in front of the ball, November is not too far away. That means our annual Election of Officers. The race for next year’s Master is well under way and I know of one Brother who is anxious for the result. So plan to be at this meeting and make his dream come true!
