From the East – August 2018
Greetings, Brethren
The year is moving right along and here it is August. So far we have had a nice summer and I would imagine that all those folks in California are looking at Oregon, salivating and trying to figure out how to get their 35 million into our 4 million size state. Oh well and as many of you remember know they tried that in the sixties with beer. “Where you fellas going with all that beer? Oregon! Why? too much beer in California.” Oregon has always been a jewel of the North West and we are to justly proud.
Speaking of pride, Washington Lodge has been for many years honoring those members who have shown outstanding Pride, Service, Dedication to the Lodge. Some have done so very quietly to the point you wouldn’t know they were there and some are more outspoken but no less dedicated. Do yourself and the Lodge the huge favor of writing down the names of those members who exemplify the values we all cherish and after you have weighed the relative merits of each write that name down and give it to the Secretary. In September we will select one of these members who have garnered the most “unsolicited’ support of the membership. It is really important that this not become a personality contest. It would be a travesty to select someone who was extraordinarily tall and good looking, such as myself to receive this honor. This is really important because this Honor is held in very high esteem by our Fraternity. If you have questions and I hope you do, bring up those questions in lodge but do not under any circumstance let fly with any names. I will as those members who have already received the Honor to stand so that you will know who is eligible.
That is all from my “Big Gun” Again Let’s make Washington Lodge #46 the Best it can be. And remember don’t hold any ideas “inside”. Debate is the corner stone of our Fraternity.
