The Treasurer’s Vault – November 2017
Well here are the rains, usually I like the fall rains, but this year is different. The wildfires in the gorge this past summer have changed not only the looks of the gorge but also the feel. The abundant greenery has taken a beating and the possibilities of flash flooding, landslides and other acts of nature are sure to occur during this first winter after the fire.
Not only has the gorge been changed but so have many things concerning the Treasurer and the way he handles monies coming into the lodge. First, we had to change our checking account. The fine people in the federal government found that we did not have our founding documents on file at the bank. Try as we may, we were not able to save the old account. After receiving the required documents from the Secretary of State, we were able to open a new account and we are back in business.
Now for some exciting news that will help not only you but also the Secretary and Treasurer. First, we have opened a PayPal account which you will soon have access to on the Washington 46 webpage. This will help you to pay dues or make donations to the lodge from the comfort of your home. No more slogging in the rain, snow, or heat of summer to mail your dues. Second, we have also opened a Square account so that when you are at lodge you will be able to pay even if you forgot your checkbook or the cash you may occasionally carry.
I wish all of you a happy Holiday Season, but more than that come to lodge and celebrate with your brothers the joy of the season.
Larry Harmon, PM
