Brethren,
A mason was talking to his friend who was not a mason. The brother was describing the work his lodge does as well as the different approaches the members take to solve a problem. The friend said to the mason, “Well, it seems like all that you do is argue yet you call each other brother. How can you possibly reconcile that?” The mason simply replied, “We’re not friends, we’re brothers.”
M.W.B. Stapleton remarked at the end of the last stated meeting how much he appreciated everyone’s work towards the running of our lodge. I could not agree more. I believe that all of us have the purest intentions and are all working toward the common good.
The nature of our meetings allows free and open discussions about our differences of opinion which we have from time to time. What I have seen is that brothers are willing to put aside their differences and come together for a higher purpose. This signals great things for the future of the lodge.
I became a mason, in part, to increase my circle of friends. I have definitely done so and consequently; I am privileged to call all of you both brother and friend.
