Master's Message
Brethren,

The change of seasons is especially noticeable this time of year. Summer is now behind us. The days grow shorter, the air cools, and the trees begin to let go of their leaves. Autumn can be beautiful, but it also reminds us that change is part of life, whether we welcome it or not.

We experience seasons of our own. A familiar routine changes. A responsibility passes to someone else. We may face a loss, or find ourselves in a place we did not expect to be. Masonry does not make those transitions easy, but it gives us principles to return to and Brethren with whom we can share the journey. It asks us to reflect honestly on where we are, to care for one another, and to keep working on ourselves through every season of life.

As we gather this month, I hope we will take a moment to think of a Brother who may be going through a difficult change, and reach out. Sometimes a conversation or an invitation to lodge means more than we know.

Our next stated meeting will be Washington 46's Past Masters’ Night. We will have a special dinner at 6:00 PM, the meeting will begin at 7:30 PM, and refreshments will follow. I hope as many of our Past Masters as possible will join us so we can recognize their service and enjoy their company. Wear your Past Master apron i
f you have one! All Brethren are welcome; this evening is for the whole Lodge to share.

Greetings from the West,

More dark and less light. The garden is producing less, and the pumpkins are turning orange. Since we have passed the autumnal equinox, our day length is less than twelve hours. It is harvest time for grapes, apples, squash and remaining tomatoes. Make the best of the light as much as you can. It is a Masonic thing to do.

At the October 14th stated meeting, we will be celebrating our past Masters. There will be a special dinner, and we are looking forward to seeing many of you that have not been to Lodge in a while, as well as those we see more often. Washington 46 has a lot of living past Masters and it will be a joy to have you in lodge.

If you can let our Junior Warden, WB Manase Salema know you are planning to attend, that will be helpful but not required.

Speaking of past Masters, I was honored to be present recently as WB Mitch Obeid was presented with his fifty-year jewel. Mitch is a life member in several Lodges, including Washington 46, and still holds offices in some. The reading of his Masonic accomplishments was lengthy and illuminating. Congratulations WB Mitch. Well done.

I hope I can be there when you get your 50-year jewel.

Cheers to that.

Please join us this October 14th. Dinner will be at 6:00 pm and the meeting starts at 7:30. All are welcome.

Harmoniously,

Jim Munson

Brethren,

Experiences can be difficult sometimes. When things do not go our way, we should take great comfort that we have a worldwide family of Brothers who have our back.

When we feel like the cares of this world are overwhelming, we have to visit a Lodge, feel the Brotherly Love and get a whole new perspective. Thank you, Brethren, for giving me hope and restoring my faith in humanity.

It’s time for a change, oh yes. We get in a rut and we know that moving out of that familiar routine is a must. I didn’t have a message last month but wanted to catch you all up to date on my current status.

As you are aware, my wife Pat, went to the celestial Grand Lodge on August the 31
st. We were together for 62 years.  Plans are being made for a Celebration of Life and will get the date out very soon. I can’t thank everyone enough for your cards, thoughts and prayers. It  means a lot. I have moved to Jennings McCall in Forest Grove, Apt. 128. I will do my best to continue as your lodge secretary, and will drive back and forth if the need arises.

Now on to lodge activities. The roof and the fence projects are ready to be wrapped up. Kai, our Master and all the lodge officers have all been supportive of all our projects.  We are here to stay and we want our facility to be the best looking and updated for our current tenants. October is also our Past Masters night so I hope we will have a real good turnout. We will have a special meal and a lot of catching up to do with those that we haven’t seen for awhile. Please plan on attending as dinner will start at 6PM with our meeting at 7:30.

Looking forward to a great fall season with many happy months ahead. To all the Masonic Family, please take care and God Bless!

Fraternally,

Don Stapleton, PGM, Secretary
