As we enter the last month of the year, I find myself reflecting on what our lodge has accomplished and what this journey has meant to me personally. When the year began, I set a very ambitious goal for our lodge—one that could only be achieved through unity, diligence, and shared purpose. I am grateful to say that we have reached a point where we had hoped to be, and it is because of the unwavering support of our dedicated line of officers that these aspirations became reality. We have accomplished so many meaningful things together, each milestone made possible by the collective effort of everyone involved.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to all who helped bring our vision to life. Your commitment, encouragement, and willingness to lend your time and talents have made this year not only successful but profoundly rewarding. Serving as Worshipful Master has taught me countless lessons, and I remain sincerely appreciative of the brothers who have guided me along the way. Their wisdom, patience, and steady counsel have strengthened my leadership and enriched my experience.

Though this may be my last month in the East, I am thankful to be concluding my term with events that will truly make this season memorable. I warmly invite everyone to this month’s Stated Communication, during which we will receive the Official Visit of our Grand Master, who will be accompanied by his wife, our Grand Lady at our dinner. It will be a special evening not only for its significance but also for the festive atmosphere we will enjoy as The Dickens Carolers grace our lodge with their cherished holiday melodies. I encourage all brethren to join us and take part in this extraordinary night.

By the end of the week, we will also come together for a Joint Christmas Party with Lents Lodge No. 156—another opportunity to celebrate the bonds we share and the spirit of the season. Yet before these two remarkable gatherings, let us meet on December 6th at 2:00pm for an important moment in our lodge’s history: the installation of our new Worshipful Master and his line of Officers. Let us offer him our full support as he embarks on his ensuing Masonic year, for we are, as always, united in purpose and brotherhood.

To all who have contributed to our lodge’s achievements this year, please accept my heartfelt gratitude. Your steadfast dedication has been the cornerstone of our success, and I am truly honored to have served beside each one of you. Serving as your Worshipful Master this year has been both a profound honor and a lasting source of pride.

The Work We Share

Brethren,

As I prepare to step into the East, I’ve been reflecting on the quiet strength that sustains any lodge—not grand gestures or lofty speeches, but the steady willingness of its members to contribute time, energy, and attention to the Craft we care about. Masonry is, at its heart, a volunteer endeavor. Every officer who prepares a meeting, every Brother who sets out chairs, every hand that helps clean up after a dinner does so not because of obligation, but because of commitment. That is a beautiful thing.

But volunteer organizations also carry a delicate balance. When only a few shoulders bear the weight, even simple tasks begin to feel heavy. Initiatives stall. The shared experience that should unite us becomes the work of a small number rather than the lodge as a whole. None of this happens out of malice—it happens because we are busy men juggling families, careers, health, and responsibilities. Yet the Craft reminds us that no edifice is raised by one Mason working alone.

As incoming Master, I know that any vision I put forward—no matter how thoughtful or well-intentioned—cannot stand on its own. A Master may set a direction, but only the collective hands and hearts of the lodge can bring that direction to life. When more of us share in the work, the burden lightens, momentum builds, and the lodge becomes a place where ideas can truly take root. More importantly, it becomes a place where every Brother feels that he has a role and a home.

So as we look ahead, I encourage each of us to reflect on where we might contribute—not out of pressure, but out of purpose. Maybe it’s lending an hour to a committee, showing up early to set the room, mentoring a newer Brother, or simply being present and engaged. Every contribution matters. Every gesture strengthens the Lodge just a little more.

We are all volunteers, and that makes our labor all the more meaningful. When we pull together, we demonstrate the living truth of our obligations—not in words, but in action.

Thank you, Brethren, for the time, heart, and goodwill you bring to Washington Lodge No. 46. I look forward to building the coming year with you, one stone at a time.
