From the Secretary’s Desk

The consolidation of Sunnyside Lodge #163 and Washington Lodge #46 was completed at our July stated meeting. The members from Sunnyside are a group of outstanding brothers and I look forward to their participation in our many activities. Sunnyside Lodge was chartered June 17th, 1915. For many years they were located at 39th & Hawthorne. Washington Lodge was chartered June 22nd, 1869. This will be the fifth lodge that Washington has consolidated with, as Palestine Lodge joined with Washington in 2011. With the installation of new officers scheduled for our August meeting, it should be a busy stated with the theme for the evening 50’s—60’s dress.

Many of us have remarked how time is flying by—where has the year gone? Those of us with children at home know the challenges ahead, like getting ready for school and finishing that vacation before fall sets in. One thing we as brothers have in common is checking on the welfare of our brothers and sisters. Yes, we do have members that are ill and facing everyday challenges. So, I ask you, as the months fly by, don’t forget those of our members that need some special care or maybe just a phone call. If you know of someone in need, please let our officers know.

A lot of fun is right around the corner, and I invite all of you to participate with us. It’s going to be a good year. Don’t forget our meeting in August starts at 7PM.
