From the Secretary’s Desk – December 2022
It’s hard to believe that 2022 is almost over. We started 2022 wondering how it was all going to turn out, with new officers and plans sort in limbo and hoping that the virus wouldn’t keep us down. I will have to say that we came through all the uncertainties in flying colors. Was it easy, not by a long shot but we accomplished a great deal and for this month’s message I will highlight some of those accomplishments.
Our support for the programs and scholarships at Franklin High School has always been a big plus. Students attending college through our continuing program are doing very well. Funds for the music department are helping them purchase new robes and uniforms. They will again be entertaining us at our building Christmas party.
We have our outside building sign up and running again and for those that haven’t seen it, our masonic mural on the south side of the building is truly a work of art. We have received kudos from the Grand Lodge as well as many in the community.
Support for the library and books for students at Creston school has been an ongoing project. We just recently contributed $1500.00 to their schoolbook fair.
Our Facebook ads for Washington Lodge has prompted several interested men in our masonic fraternity.
Some needed electrical work in the dining room was just taken care of and after 40 plus years, those blue lodge chairs that came with us from our old location on burnside have been replaced with beautiful reception chairs in the lodge room and hallway. To all the members that worked on these projects a heartfelt thank you.
So, as we approach 2023 there is still a lot to do and we have a new group of officers, that I know will keep the good times rolling. What we miss now, are some the members that we haven’t seen for a while. If there are changes that you would recommend, please let us know. Don’t forget, that this is your lodge, we want your ideas on how we can improve your masonic experience.
To you and your families I wish you the very best of holidays and a very happy, healthy, and safe NEW YEAR!! GOD BLESS.
Respectively submitted,
Don Stapleton, Secretary
