From the East – October 2022
Greetings from the East:
I have updated this month on two programs and a couple of upcoming activity notices this month.
First the updates…The first one is we have decided that the Saturday brunch will start in 2023. The reason for this is Sunnyside Lodge does not have an exact departure date from the building and we do not want to conflict with their Saturday brunch. Also, the last few months of the year are always busy (elections, Christmas party, the Holidays) and we didn’t think adding something new into all that would be a good idea.
The other update I have is on the Uber/Lyft rides to lodge. This one is a bit of a disappointment, however, both Uber and Lyft require a credit/debit card on file to create a corporate account. The lodge does not have a credit/debit card in its name so it would have to be one of the Officers using their personal card to set up the account. We didn’t feel comfortable doing that with all the internet security issues around today, so we are going to have to scrub that program.
HOWEVER, if you want a ride to lodge, call me a day or two in advance and I will make sure you get a ride. Either someone will come and get you and take you home or we will figure something out. Please, please, don’t feel like you are asking for too much if you need a ride. You are my Brother, and I will do all I can to get you to lodge.
For our stated meeting this month, WB David Tate will be giving a lecture titled “How Grand Lodges Fight and Party”. This sounds interesting, and I hope you can attend. And don’t forget that we will be starting our sit-down dinners back up in October. Dinner is at 6:30 pm and Lodge starts at 7:30 pm.
Also in October, we will be having a E.A. degree for our new candidate, Ron. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/washingtonlodge46, for a date. You can also check our web page, https://washington46.org for an announcement.
On October 19th, WB Jim Akers will be holding the first Torchlight class. I explained this program last month and it promises to be very educational.
So a busy month as I said. I hope to see you at one of these events if not all three.
Jim Van Anda, WM
