From the Secretary’s Desk – May 2022
They say, April showers bring May flowers. There is no question about it that. April has been a rainy month and most likely will be the wettest month in Portland history. We also had a surprise visit of some very cold weather. Snow made traveling difficult and over 700 trees in the area were damaged. We as masons talk about more LIGHT, so let’s get some sunshine on the calendar. Our Masonic Light just got a little brighter as we conferred an EA Degree on Brother Michael Varble. It was nice to finally get degrees going again and to all those that participated, we thank you.
So, what do these next few months have in store? Well, May is the official visit of our District Deputy, RWB Jim Munson, and we will also honor our mothers, as this is indeed a celebration for all the many duties our wives, AKA Mothers, do all year long. June is special as it is our Annual Communication of Grand Lodge; held this year at the Convention Center in Salem. It will be the first full Grand Lodge since the pandemic slowed all masonic activities. It looks like July will be a fun month as well with our annual picnic at Oaks Park with Sunnyside and Corner Stone Lodges.
It’s casual dress starting in June; Barongs if you have one and our meeting starting at 7PM. One final note—We have had a first reading and discussion of a few by-laws articles and plan to vote on those changes at our meeting in May. So, what we need is your attendance and participation. Please let our JW, John Quiroz, know if you are planning to attend dinner. One day a month, how about attending lodge!!
Respectfully submitted,
Don Stapleton, Secretary
