From the Secretary’s Desk – January 2022
A new Year, a new group of officers and a future that looks bright for Washington Lodge. We start the year off with an official visit from Grand Master Most Worshipful Brother Greg Jenkins. Dinner will start at 6:30PM with our stated at 7:30. If you are planning to attend dinner, please let me know. We need a count for the chef. Looking forward to a great turn out and support for our Grand Master.
I would like to again thank the lodge for participating in the raffle for the DeMolay Foundation Scholarship Program. The DeMolay Crab Feed for 2021 had to be cancelled because of the virus; this was our major fundraiser for this program. We were fortunate to have the winner of the $1000.00 Grand Prize as a member of our lodge, our very own WB John Quiroz. Congratulations, and again thanks to everyone for your continued support of our masonic youth groups.
Congratulations also go out to our newly raised master mason Dylan McComiskey. Some 13 members were present to confer his degree on December 15th. Dylan is a former submariner, has many interesting hobbies and has stories galore. We are happy to have Dylan as part of Washington Lodge. We also have several other interested men that will meet with us in the next few weeks. It’s going to be a busy year.
Worshipful Master Jim has several programs that he would like to present in 2022. We need everyone’s participation to make this year successful. If you have ideas and concerns about anything the lodge is doing, please let us know. Our officers’ meetings are open to all of you so please come and participate.
As we ended year 2021 with the expectation of better things to come, we’ve also lost some very dear friends at our lodge and at the Grand Lodge level. Past Grand Masters MWB Ken Elliott and MWB John Livie. MWB Ken served as Grand Master from 1990-1991, passed to Celestial Grand Lodge on December 14th, 2021 and MWB John served as Grand Master from 2000-2001 and passed away on December 25th, 2021. Please keep the families of all these brothers in your thoughts and prayers. A very happy New Year to all!! Please take care, stay safe & God Bless.
Respectfully submitted,
Don Stapleton, Secretary
