Elections, Veterans, Thanksgiving
It comes once a year. Yes, all three of the items in the title happen just once a year and all are important to celebrate. What comes first this year? Our annual election of offices in Washington Lodge. One might think that this election is just like the others that we have been doing for over 152 years. No, this election, just like last year has had many challenges. A virus has been the culprit and we ended up not meeting in person, not having our usual dinners, not having degrees, unable to have that special fellowship that make up a close nit group like ours. Is it getting better? We certainly hope so. SO, you should attend our stated meeting to vote for the members that have stuck with all the ups & downs and kept this lodge afloat during these troubling times. We need your support and participation.
Veterans Day is the 11th and our heartfelt thanks go out to all that have served and in memory of all those veterans that have given the ultimate sacrifice to their country. Every time I visit Willamette National Cemetery I am in awe and in deep appreciation to all the veterans that are buried there. The Red, White & Blue, the Star-Spangled Banner and the freedoms that we enjoy are the foundation of our countries greatness and we as masons must preserve and spread that sentiment within our communities.
Thanksgiving is a time for families to get together and celebrate the many blessings that we have experienced all year. Many of us have been unable to see each other so I hope your family and all the members of our masonic groups will be able to celebrate your continued good health and happiness. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Respectfully submitted,
Don Stapleton, Secretary
