From the Secretary’s Desk – June 2021
Washington Lodge is very pleased to report that Willamette Lodge #2 will be a tenant at Washington Masonic Center starting in July of 2021. Willamette Lodge is the second oldest masonic lodge in our jurisdiction and was chartered on September 15, 1851.
Their stated meeting day will be the 1st Wednesday of the month and their officers meeting, the second Thursday. We are really looking forward in having them aboard as this will bring us up to three lodges meeting at our building.
In our recent publication of the short talk bulletin entitled Priorities of Life, this edition centered of the life of Warren G. Harding, President in the early 1920’s. It further discussed the sacrifices made by President Harding in his quest to become a mason. This article was written by a past grand master from Ohio in 1988 and depicts how important Masonry is to our personal lives and to the communities that we live in. I will quote: “All of us are forced to make decisions about how active we will be in our service to our communities and our service to this fraternity. They are often tough decisions because they involve the sacrifice of a most precious item—our time. Yes, it can continue to raise the standard of right living, support honest and moral conduct, and contribute to the relief of those less fortunate than we are. MASONRY IS NEEDED AND SHOULD BE A PRIORITY FOR ALL OF US.”
God Bless all of those on this Memorial Day that gave their life for the freedoms that we enjoy. I wish all our brothers a very safe and happy summer.
Sincerely & fraternally,
Don Stapleton, Secretary
