News from Job’s Daughters
Job’s Daughters International has a no meetings and /or fundraisings directive from our Supreme Council because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This order is in effect until further notice and may be restricted depending on State issued orders. Job’s Daughters is also honoring the directive from Oregon’s Grand Master of Masons regarding meetings and use of the lodge.
Bethel 67 has not met at Washington Lodge at all since the spring of 2019. We have been struggling for some time with membership. We currently have only two daughters on our roles. One daughter was so involved in her school and other activities that she was not able to attend. The other daughter would love to be involved in everything; however, her parents do not provide any physical transportation. Everywhere that Alyssa wants to go she must get a ride. She was in regular attendance at Bethel 19 in Troutdale through the fall whenever a ride was available. This was still giving her an experience as a member of Job’s Daughters International.
As Bethel Guardian, it is very disappointing for me to have to tell you that Bethel 67 will most likely close. The Grand Guardian Council of Oregon has decided they will close Bethel 67 by the end of this Grand Guardian Council year in June 2020. The only hope of keeping Bethel 67 open would be an influx of petitions for membership signed and in hand ready to initiate as soon as the pandemic stay at home order is lifted. In addition, there would need to be adult leaders and support. I firmly believe that Bethel 67 is in a prime location in the inner part of Portland. The neighborhoods around the lodge and west or towards the river are full of young women who could benefit from our order. I have attempted promotion in some of these areas over the last few years with mixed reception. I have some names of prospects and will call them again this next week. Wish me luck. If you know of a daughter who might join or you want to help promote the organization, contact me immediately, our time is running out for Bethel 67. There are other Bethels I could refer a daughter to.
It has been my pleasure to work with Bethel 67 these last five years. I really appreciated the support of Washington Lodge. I hope you will continue to make your facility available to our Order if ask. Many Bethels don’t have the privilege of such a great relationship with Masons. I have some exciting changes in my personal life and will be moving out of the picture.
Stay strong! Jobie Love,
Peggy Morgan
