Annual Charges

It’s Back to the Basics

Recently our Junior Warden, Lynn Foley, attended the annual charges for Junior Wardens at Forest Grove. In recent years the charges for the three top officers of the lodge have moved from location to location and included different formats to help in the planning of that year in the South, West or East. What the members lacked was the basics of etiquette, the finer points of ritual in the opening and closing, going to refreshment and yes, as a voting member of the lodge at Grand Lodge, their obligation to attend that annual communication. It was that kind of information and instruction that the members asked to have and I believe that this change will benefit all the officers that desire to serve their lodge as officers. Speaking of training, Washington Lodge will host a School of Instruction at our lodge on Saturday, April 6th. Coffee & pastries at 8 AM with instruction starting at 9 AM. Please call or email our District Deputy, RWB Jim Akers, 503-680-6970 or [email protected] if you plan on attending.

On a sad note, one of our long time members, WB Al Powers passed to the Celestial Grand Lodge on March 18th, 2019. Al was a mason for nearly 57 years; was Worshipful Master of Palestine Lodge # 141 in 1985 & 2008; was raised in 1962; was presented his Hiram award by MWB Aaron Harvey in November 1999, his 50 year jewel in June of 2012 and at the time of death, Al was 96 years old. He served an honorable life and will be greatly missed by his brethren. So Mote it be!!

Fraternally,

Don Stapleton, Secretary
