From the East – September 2018
Greetings, Brethren
I have had a very nice summer but alas it is fading fast. My knee surgery went extremely well except for my rather harsh reaction to the surgical drugs. I was “wacko bananas” for around five days and they had me on a twenty- four hour round the clock watch, which means there was a nurse with me all the time! Oh well, that is now behind us and I can get around quite well thank you.
Thursday the 23rd we had an EA degree; the first in a number of years. Most Worshipful Don Stapleton conferred the degree and Worshipful Brother Bob Richardson delivered the lecture, virtually letter perfect! We had a number of last minute substitutions which were done in good form. The Grand Lodge program is working well. We’ve had quite a number of queries about potential memberships so this program is producing results.
The parking lot has been resurfaced with new striping and looks great. So far this year, we haven’t had any serious problems with the building, which is a good thing! Except for having to replace a refrigerator, expenses have been low.
We will go back to Lodge opening at 7:30 PM with dinner before lodge. The dinners have been a bit of a drain on finances and could use a few more donations.
Your voice counts and what we decide in Lodge is a matter of a consensus of the membership. As often happens after the fact, someone reads in the minutes or from the Trestle Board that a decision was made with which they perhaps disagree. Your vote counts and cannot be corrupted by any outside force. Be a part of a decision that is made by all members. Besides we would like to hear your voice and see your smiling face in Lodge.
