Master’s Message – June 2017
Brethren and Friends,
Not only does the month of June bring the annual celebration of our flag; the symbol of Freedom worldwide and Father’s Day; a day especially dedicated to our Fathers; June also brings the celebration of St John the Baptist. As children, we are taught to honor our Flag, as well as our Fathers and the men who gave our country’s freedoms and rights. As Masons, we strive to teach our brethren and children to honor our heritage, to respect the flag of our country and to follow the words of Divine Scripture. At our stated meeting to mark St John’s day this year, we will be delighted by Most Worshipful Brother Larry Weaver who will speak on St. John the Baptist.
The Annual Masonic Communications for Grand Lodge was in Bend, Or this year and we wished MWB Art Borland well as he had a great year. Our newly Elected Grand Master Myles McMillan has some excellent plans for his year, especially in Training of our Blue Lodge Officers – more on this later.
I am honored to have been appointed the Junior Grand Steward for 2017-2018. I will try to live up to expectations. As always, it is a pleasure to serve my brethren, friends and humanity in general.
Washington Lodge 46 was awarded a plaque for having the Best Website for 2017.
Dinner will be prepared by J&L Catering, and served by Bethel 67. I am sure whatever they prepare for us will be appealing to the eye, tasty to the pallet, and nutritious for our bodies, minds and spirits. And as an added bonus, our Bethel will provide tasty treats and desserts for their fundraiser – A Dessert Auction. The proceeds will help send our daughters to Grand Session this year. So, please be generous, and bid high for their bountiful desserts.
Coming in July, Washington 46 will join with Cornerstone and Sunnyside Lodges to sponsor a Picnic at Oaks Park as we have done the past few years – Please attend if you can as there is always great fellowship and good times to be had by all. Please RSVP to our Junior Warden, Dennis Harris, or myself to reserve a spot for lunch and/or wristbands for the rides.
Fraternally,
John Quiroz, WM Washington 46
