From the East – September 2015
My Brethren,
Summer has not yet gone, and we still have a number of warm days ahead of us this year. But Labor Day is upon us, and the Lodges that have been dark through the summer are again at labor.
Washington Lodge has been active throughout the summer. We raised two Masons in August: as a Courtesy for Champoeg Lodge, on Saturday, August 22nd we raised Brother FC Ben Alphin, of that Lodge, to the sublime degree of Master Mason. Then, on Wednesday, August 26th, we raised our own Brother FC Octavio Padilla to the sublime degree of Master Mason.
We also had a blood drive on August 22nd, collecting 16 units of much needed blood. A Thank You to all those who participated in the blood drive.
As you know, we have a new website, which is still a work in progress. As we gain experience with it, and learn to use more of its capabilities, we will be able to communicate better, not only with the members of Washington Lodge, but with all those who use Washington Masonic Center.
The September Stated Meeting, on Wednesday, September 9th, will be Past Masters and Widows Night. We will have a special menu for dinner, and a special program recognizing these very special people.
For all the ladies, during the business meeting of the Lodge, my Lady, Karen, has planned an evening of Pumpkin Decorating. Notice I said Pumpkin Decorating, NOT Pumpkin Carving, so it won’t be too messy, and should be fun. The ladies may even make a contest out of it. Brothers and Ladies, please join us.
Another reminder that Saturday, October 3rd, you are all invited to the Official Reception for MWB Don Stapleton, Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in Oregon. The reception will be held at the Al Kader Shrine Center, in Wilsonville. No host beverages will be available at 5:00, and a buffet dinner with either a prime rib or chicken entrée will be served. The cost will be $10:00 per plate, and dinner reservations are REQUIRED. Please email your RSVP to me at [email protected], indicating number of tickets. We will collect at the door.
Also, in October, the Official Visit of Most Worshipful Grand Master Don Stapleton to Washington #46, his Home Lodge, will be at the Stated Meeting, on October 14th. Please join us to make this a very special evening for MWB Don.
Fraternally,
Rick Laird, WM
